Switch language of AutoCAD without installing multi-copy

Are you bilingual, trilingual or even octalingual? Are you working languages other than English in AutoCAD? In previous release, you probably need to install multi copies of AutoCAD, like myself, I have to install AutoCAD English and Chinese on my laptop. A good news of AutoCAD 2014(AutoCAD 2013 actually) is that we can just install the language package rather than the whole product.

I first installed AutoCAD 2014 English on my laptop, if I examine the the short-cut, I can find that it is :

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2014\acad.exe"  /product ACAD /language "en-US"

Now I would like to use Chinese version as well, so I start AutoCAD 2014 and go to Help –> Download Language Packs and download my favorite Simplified Chinese language pack and install it. A new shortcut will be created like this:

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2014\acad.exe"  /product ACAD /language "zh-CN"

With this new shortcut, I can start Chinese version of AutoCAD!

    Isn’t it a standard functionality of version 2013 already? Maybe even 2012? I am using this since 2013 SP0.

    Besides there is no AutoCAD 2013 SP2 released. I also wonder in what version the /language switch was first added.

    This year I do not see Russian language pack. What’s the reason?

    Had mixed outcomes with this in the past, works fine for AutoCAD but products like AutoCAD MEP and Revit, it failed to repath things and didnt create what i expected, if anything when i tried it with Revit… When is SP2 for AutoCAD 2013 due to be released?

    Sorry I made a mistake, this feature has been there on AutoCAD 2013. Please see http://upandready.typepad.com/up_and_ready/2013/03/installing-language-packs-for-autocad.html. And there is no SP2 yet and I do not know the plan( when or whether it will be released) yet.

    bonjour tout le monde, je ne trouve pas de pack français pou autocar 2014 sur mon mac c’est vraiment la galère si quelqu’un peut m’aider sa serait super!

    For Autocad LT 2012 polish version I’ve modified new short-cut:
    “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2012 – English\acadlt.exe” /product ACADLT /language “polish”
    and it works under W7 ultiamate 64-bit.
