Technically it’s called the VaultBrowserControl, but everyone refers to it as The Grid Control.  Sure, you can build other grid controls, but there is no point.  The Grid Control does everything you want.  The version in the VDF is actually an improved version over the main grid in the Vault Explorer client.

I can’t do justice to all the features of this control, so I bought in the developer lead on the VDF.  Please give a warm internet welcome to Michael Foster.

What code did you have in the Program.cs file? I assume its something to do with the connection object as a minimum?

Oh & yes please more content Micheal, that was excellent. I’m a complete noob, so it will take me ages, but I have some great plans for this VDF.

  3. I neglected to post the code used in the video. Sorry about that.
I updated the post to include a download link for the source code.

In the Vault-Help (VDF – Vault Browser Control) is the talk of “Context Menu: The control provides a default set of entries based on where the user clicked.”
But when i implement the Grid i don’t get any Context-Menu. (do i have to enable it or something else?)
Isn’t there a way to get the same Context-Menu i get in the Vault-Explorer.

  5. You should be getting a context menu for a grid. Try right-clicking in the whitespace. The default menu will have things like “Customize columns”.
The default context menu is not the menu that Vault Explorer uses. There is no way to use the context menu from Vault Explorer.
