Recent Comments widget

By Stephen Preston

Adam passed on a request to me from a private email conversation with Owen Wengerd:

"Please tell Stephen Preston that the blog should at least display recent comments on the main page so that readers can easily check for replies to their own comments."

Consider me told Owen :-). I've just added a widget over on the right sash. Its a bit ugly, but we can keep it if it helps. What does everyone think?

  2. Now, if only it wasn’t using a fixed width template that uses barely half the width of my monitor…

  3. Yep,
Just for giggles print a post that has code in it .. the code is less than half width of the print page.
    I s’pose beggers shouldn’t be choosers though. :)

    :-) :-P.

  6. the widget is not bad, but what would be even more helpful, is if I would get email notification, when a new comment is made to the article that I also commented
I got the email only when the comment was a direct reply to my comment

  7. Sorry Matus. We’re constrained by the tools we use, and I don’t see any setting in Typepad that will allow someone to ‘subscribe’ to an article to view all new comments.

  10. It seems like a useful addition to display recent comments on the main page, allowing readers to easily check for replies to their own comments.

What exactly is AutoDesk’s obsession with this hideous orange color? scratch geometry dash

  12. Displaying recent comments on the home page appears to be a helpful addition that will make it easier for readers to discover if their own comments have been answered.
