Autodesk Configurator 360 now available

Autodesk has a new cloud product called Configurator 360. (Currently available only as a 90 day free special offer)

You can upload your Inventor assemblies or parts and it will allow your customers to configure the model based on Inventor parameters, iLogic rules or ETO designs. You don’t need to work with the Inventor API to use Configurator 360 but I thought it may be of interest to explore this new cloud capability for Inventor models.

This YouTube video provides a quick high level overview.

Autodesk Configurator 360

It is really easy to try it. Here is a screenshot where I uploaded my Inventor part. I selected the pencil icon to display a page where I could control the behavior of the parameters.

On this page select the Parameters Tab. (this is one thing that may not be easy to find). On the Parameters tab I set the Max and Min value of the Parameters. (If I set the parameter value to zero an error occurred so having a minimum avoids that condition)

In this screenshot you see the part file that can be modified. You can try this part from here. This is just a simple ipt I used to test. The three parameters control the size of extrude features. (limit is .25 to 3.0)

I tested it and found out that there is no way to see properties. Am I correct?

Does it have a link with the Inventor file once you uploaded it? I uploaded an Inventor part, then I modified the part in Inventor but when I went back to Autodesk Configurator 360, my Inventor file didn’t update. Is there any way to update designs on Autodesk Configurator 360 after having changed them in Inventor?

    Hi Sergio,
I believe you are asking if Inventor iProperties are available in C360. They are not displayed by C360 that I have seen. It just uses parameters.

    Hi Sergio,
There is not a link to the local Inventor File once you have uploaded it. I believe you need to create a new design and delete the old one. (that is what I did). I am not an expert on C360 however.

    Hi Sergio,
    Here is a suggestion:
” If I understand what you’re looking for — It does not show iProperties directly at this time. You can set up a parameter to get the value of the property, using iLogic, perhaps with an “event trigger”, and then display the parameter in Configurator 360 as read-only. You need to use the “Parameters” tab (click on the Pencil icon). Make sure the read-only check-box “takes” … it’s temperamental. ”
